The Foundation specializes in
helping local churches
become involved in extended stewardship through planned giving,

which is the making of charitable gifts through wills,
trusts and other estate planning vehicles.

The Foundation offers consultations, presentations, workshops and
seminars for local churches of the eastern
and upper peninsula areas of Michigan.
These educational events:
  • center around wholistic, long-term Christian stewardship
and the ways local churches can increase their financial
    stability by building endowment funds.

  • are done specifically for each local church, or for
    groups of churches, on request.
The Foundation's Commission members, Investment Committee members
and Executive Director are available to come to local churches
to give consultative assistance.

What are the Objectives of the United Methodist Foundation?

  1. Helping Local Churches Receive Planned Gifts -- We are committed to helping local churches prepare to receive planned and deferred gifts. Such gifts might include wills, gift annuities, insurance policies and trusts.

  2. Helping Churches Set Up and Market Endowment Funds -- We provide training seminars and consultations to help local churches set up endowment funds and market giving strategies and concepts to their church membership.

  3. Providing Investment Pools -- so the churches can realize a market level return on their money for reasonable levels of risk.

Through a trust arrangement with Comerica Bank, we provide a balanced fund investment pool for local churches who wish to invest their funds for long term gain and periodic income with a level of risk appropriate to a balanced fund type of investment.
